FOOD For Lane County Says Federal SNAP Proposal Is ‘Misguided’


A proposed federal rule change would lead to hundreds of Oregonians dropping *eligibility for meals stamp advantages. Throughout a public remark interval, Lane County advocates responded to the feds with disapproval of the modifications.

“A misguided proposal.”

That’s the remark from FOOD for Lane County’s Tom Mulhern. He says if the modifications go into impact, practically 12,000 residents or greater than 6,500 households, would lose advantages by way of the Supplemental Vitamin Help Program, or SNAP.

And Mulhern say meaning “there will probably be extra of those of us displaying up at emergency meals pantries asking for meals packing containers and looking for meals help in that method.”

Meals stamps at present present about ten meals for each one meal distributed by way of the meals pantry community. Mulhern says cuts in SNAP advantages would stress his company’s capability and enhance meals insecurity for extra households.
